No video after GPU install???

just installed the new power supply and everything works good. when i install the GPU i get no display from gpu output or motherboard video. when i pull the card out and plug back into mobo video, everything works fine. the card uses a pci-e 2 but i only have pci-e 1. is this the problem? when the 9800 is installed the GPU fan works and i get one beep at start up like normal but no video. also i only have a VGA moniter so i am using a VGA adapter on the GPU. this is my first upgrade so any help would be GREAT!

Try going into the bios and switching your 1st display option to pci-e.

Also try another VGA adapter, some aren't fully pinned.

Your PSU should be fine.

thanks, i have the computer booted into windows and im remoting into it from another computer. seems like everything is working fine. windows detects the card and says thers no problems. i am pretty sure i got the wrong adaptor. from what i read, it uses 2 dvi-i outputs. i got a dvi-d to vga adapter. i think thats the problem. ive ordered another one and ill just remote into the comp until i get the new adapter. hopefully thats the problem.
