HI
I have 1TB WD My passport. Since last few weeks I can't access it anymore. harddisk still blinking but partition missing in diskmanagement still in the safe remove hard ware .
Wonder if there Is a way to recover the data.

Solution
You can try this data recovery software :

http://download.cnet.com/EaseUS-Data-Recovery-Wizard-Free-Edition/3000-2248_4-75184619.html

Or, http://zero-assumption-recovery.en.softonic.com/

If the external HDD can be seen by BIOS, then there is a hope of recovering data.

You can try to replace the USB cable, or can use other ports, see if t works. BTW does the external HDD spinning, or can you feel any vibrations by touching it ? If so, then the HDD might be ok.

The last thing will be to format and clean install of OS. As I said earlier the file system of the OS is got corrupted. Another thing you can try the external HDD on another system, see if that of any help.

HI thanks for your help. But the device is not shown up in DOS screen drive list when I run testdisk. But it shows in device manager as WD MY passport.

Ok, the device manager image is perfect. Is it an external HDD or internal ? And I told you to send an image of DISK MANAGEMENT not My Computer.

Click on Start menu-->Right click on My Computer-->Manage-->on the left hand pane you will see Disk Management-->Click it-->Now take the image of things in the right pane, that is DISK MANAGEMENT.

And looking at the images I think you have to format and clean install of OS. Somehow the file system got corrupted so not reading the HDD.

Or, you can try this command on CMD : Start-->Run-->Type CMD--> then type-->chkdsk X: /f/r (X is the drive letter, yours may be different). See how it goes.

Hi
It's external HDD with USB cable. Please see below link diskmanagement image. The external drive doesn't appear in diskmanagement .

HI
thank you for your advice. I have attached two images from different recovery software.
Hard disk MBR seems corrupt. but when I tried to rebuild with AOMEI it gives me error.
http://i44.tinypic.com/25zicy1.jpg Image from AOMEI partition assistant edition.
http://i42.tinypic.com/302ov1j.jpg Image from ZAR zero assumption recovery.
Will there be any chances to recover data from that hard disk.
Hard disk still blinking and spinning.
thank you very much

Sorry for the late reply. I saw the images you posted, and its confirmed that the drive is not being read by the OS. There may be two reasons : 1. The USB cable is faulty. 2. As I said earlier the OS can't read the drive.

So, try another system which may be able to read the ex drive. Or format the OS of internal drive. And there is no other way to make the ex drive read. The worst case scenario the ex drive gone bad.
