So here's the deal.
I bought this buffalo external drive to transport between the iMacs at school and my PC back home.
I have no problem using it on my pc, but when I plug it in to the iMac, it won't let me write anything to the disk. I tried changing the file format to FAT 32, which was a success, but the problem is that to do that I had to password protect the hard drive, and the option to input the password doesn't pop up on iMacs.

Help?

Often times when a drive is formatted to one OS it cannot function properly in another I know this sucks but this is how big companies get you to use only one product. They o what they can to keep you sticking with them only for as long as possible. Basically you have to choose Win7 or OSX. There might be a slight ray of hope though perhaps trying out "winebottler" on your iMac and see if perhaps its as simple as getting the iMac to read Windows files!
