I am going to sell my computer to afford a google nexus 7(2nd gen), and i was wondering how much it would go for. i would like for it to be worth around $300 - $350. my specs are as follows:

sapphire radeon HD 5770 (fairly new)
2 GB ram (4 x 512mb)
two hard drives: 160 GB and 75 GB
intel pentium D processor (old i know)
intel D955XBK motherboard
two dvd read/write drives
CFI Bastet case (my most recent investment)
500 watt bottom mounted power supply
wireless card (i dont know much about it)
the case also contains two hot-swappable things (cant think of the name)

and thats about it.

thanks in advance

Solution
the pentium d processor is really old and is one of the first dual core chips. its performance was not all that stellar.

you could try listing it for that price but i do not see that kind of money in it seeing as how you could build a new pc with much much better parts for just a little bit more.

honestly the only things worthwhile are the case and perhaps the 5770 for someone who wants a really low end system.

good luck just dont get your hopes up.

if you break it down into parts and can ebay good you might get $200 for the whole thing. as one unit you'll be lucky to get $100. basically people can buy old pentium 4s, even first gen core2duos for less then $100; i know of three places in Phoenix i could get that same computer for less then 70 bucks. one of them would actually give me a computer in that one's class (of course it would be because i'm with a ministry and they donate stuff to the ministry all the time).

sorry... as a whole unit your pc has very little value. the parts however all have individual value which add up to more then the value of the whole. part it out. you'll get something for the machine atleast.

first of all, you don't know what is available at all 3 locations. that $70 core2duo comes with a hard drive and dvd drive (you are right that those pcs don't come with windows or gpus). and a 5770 isn't an $70 part... not when you can get a 7750 for less or a 7770 for $80. I could pick one up for $40 if i was smart about it.

that said, no one will pay $200 for an old pc with a slightly new gpu and a 2nd hand copy of windows. especially if they can get the same thing for about $100 (minus the copy of windows). most people have a copy of windows laying around, with more installs legally allowed by M$.

I auctioned off my Sandy Bridge Pentium with 4 GB of DDR3 ram and Windows 7 included for $90 on e-bay just to give you an idea. People don't like old computers. Yours is ancient.

i will tell you a story, when i start playing with PC the tecnology change after 6 months maybe one year today 3 months ITS A HUGE LEAP. The only thing u have can save your entire PC is the 5770. maybe 100 usd... your pentium 4 is less powerfull than a ATOM and need more power to play a single mp3. That why people don't buy this machine anymore. you can shot in this motherboard cpu... and sell the MEMos and GPU. the rest no one will buy...
end of story...
