Memory compability and the importance of "right" memory?

Hi!

So I'm curios how important is it to find the exact part number of a memory setup that fits my motherboards QVL list?

So far I seem to have severe issues finding much of any rams that match that list, as well as acording to that list I don't see any support for a 8GBx8Gb support. But the motherboard can support up to 32GB or roughly around that figure.

So for a better understanding whats the worst that will happen if I would go with a nice set of a crucial or kingston memories that's not listed in the QVL list?

My motherboard is for the record a Asus sabertooth 990FX revision 1/Gen 1

Hi,
If it's the required voltage, everything should work fine.
For my part, I rarely look at the QVL list because they just test a few off the market.

Worse that can happen: BSOD, no boot. From there you could just return them for a refund.
So far, as long as I got ddr3 + right voltage, I never got any problems.
The only thing I had to set up was the memory speed in the bios if it wasn't well recognized.

The cpu I will use will be an AMD FX 8350 Black edition.
Socket-AM3+, 4.0Ghz, 125W, 8MB L2 + 8MB L3 Cache, 32nm, Black Edition

My current cpu thought is a Phenom II x4 3Ghz

I currently have 1 set of crucial memories 4x4 and 1 set of kingston 2x2
volt is 1.5 and they have same speed 1333 and I also believe same timings 9-9-9-24.

Only issue I have experienced so far is with Diablo 3 and not sure what is faulty.

Diablo 3 will randomly crash once in a while and can't be terminated in any way. Windows will still work nicely so I simply tell windows to reboot. (windows 8)

I haven't seen the cpu become overheated or so, core temps will peak at 43C and cpu temp 43-45c

Graphiccard will peak at 50-55c at full load during diablo 3.

A friend will come down and more or less build my semi new system as I won't do it my self. I allready killed one computer due to incompetence, (poorly attached cpu fan fried cpu wrong power cables attached to wrong places on motherboard gave me a nice bbq) So I stick to changing hardware like graphiccards, harddrives and similar stuff.

Does that give you the information needed to provide me wth solid advice? :)

I have the latest bios allready in order to support the new cpu. So on that front I'm not to worried. And my budget can afford a good set of 8-16GB I don't believe I fully use 32GB or it's overkill. I rather get a set of 8x8 which can at a later date be complemented with another pair of 8x8. Been looking at G.Skill memories and a set of 2x4 and 4x4 seems to be within my budget range. Thought finding a wide selection of G.skill here is quite impossible. (Sweden) Kingston, crucial and corsair is far more common and easier to pick up. Not sure on neweggs international shipping customs. My budget range is around 190USd which would include the shipping costs as well. So I more or less look at something like this: Corsair Vengeance DDR3 1600MHz 8GB CL9
Corsair 8GB (2x4GB) CL9 1866Mhz VENGEANCE RED
Crucial DDR3 BallistiX Elite 1600Mhz 8GB
