My son's HD crashed and my daughter's mobo fried. I want to take my daughter's HD and put it in my son's computer. They are both Emachines. What is the process, is it possible? The hard drive from the t6542 is going into the t3104. Switch the drives then load the drivers or is there a way to wipe the drive first? both XP.

It crashes when I try to reload windows..unknown hard error coooo221\system root\system32\ntdll.dll when i go into safe mode it loads a ton of drivers but doesn't make it and crashes when i try recovery , when i use recovery disc or put windows setup it stop after awhile and says IRQL_not_less or equal.. It says to disable memory options such as caching or shadowing and remove any new installed hardware or software. I hoping i just got a driver conflict but i can't figure out a way to reformat the drive. Can't find anything in the bios that has to do with shadowing or caching. Any ideas?

Please follow the steps in order:
1. While the computer is on, insert the Windows XP Disc (for your son's computer), and turn off the PC.
2. While the computer is turning on, press the key to get into the BIOS.
3. Under boot, set the boot order so that the DVD drive the disc is in is first.
4. Save changes, and exit BIOS.
5. The computer should boot from the DVD drive.
