For starters, I don't really care about things budget wise. This is the only thing like this I've ever done and I wanna be open to spree on some things. If something is too ridiculously priced I will go ahead and go for something else. *****THIS DOES NOT MEAN I WANT EVERYTHING AS EXPENSIVE AS POSSIBLE. IF IT CAN BE BUILT JUST AS GOOD FOR CHEAPER, OKAY. I JUST WANNA KNOW THINGS WILL WORK.*****

Hey everybody, my name's Josh. I use this website a lot to figure things out and find advice through other threads I've found; however, I've never actually posted here myself for anything, so I'm basically a Tom's Hardware virgin. Lol. I've seen some great stuff here and was really hoping you guys could help me out.
Leading up to the question(s)...
I'm building my own computer tower (well.....I'm actually going all out by building the tower and buying everything else—monitors (x2), speakers, mouse, keyboard, headset, other accessories, etc.) for the very first time. I know a decent amount about computer because I've been using them my entire life and love learning how they work. I just can't decide on what motherboard (as well as a few other pieces) to buy. I was really hoping you guys could help me...
Details of what I'm building for...
I'm trying to build the tower for gaming (more or less). I'm sure I won't actually do a bunch of gaming on it (I'll definitely have my spells of gaming a lot, though) but I want to built it for gaming for the sole purpose of the fact that then it will have been built to run fast and work/look great. I want it to be reliable and want to know it'll get everything I need to do done quickly. (Note for anybody who knows about AutoCAD and web design, I'm a Drafter and Web Designer for a land surveying company and will need it to run things like: AutoCAD, Revit, Inventor, Adobe Dreamweaver (or Notepad++), Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Dropbox, Microsoft Office 2010 or 2013, etc. while also running great for my own personal tasks and for gaming.)

Out of the MANY motherboards I've been looking at, I've finally narrowed it down to these two. I'd prefer an E-ATX motherboard for more room/expandability, but I also just wanna make sure it's gonna be a great motherboard that will do anything I need it to.
GIGABYTE GA-990FXA-UD7 AM3+ AMD 990FX SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 Extended ATX AMD Motherboard

For information on my current build plan....
** I plan on going with a Windows 7 Ultimate OS, but I dunno......I've also thought about Linux.... Any thought on this?
** I definitely wanna stick with an AMD processor. I prefer those over Intel.
** The tower (shown on the Newegg wish list) is the only piece of the build I've bought so far. Haven't want to buy other stuff until I buy the motherboard and processor because I want to know what motherboard/processor I'm basing the rest of my build off of and want to know for a fact everything will be compatible.
** MY THEME, FOR THE MOST PART, IS BLUE (OR BLUE-BASED) / BLUE LED.

** My wish list at Amazon.com
Note: Yes, I am aware that some items are on both lists. I was simply looking at prices on items and comparing between the two sites. I've added a lot of items to both lists to help keep an eye on the prices both sites have to offer (naturally, most will be cheaper on Newegg—and I feel safer buying electronic from them anyways).
