Everything is perfect, yet not working

I will try to give as many details as possible.

So today I completed my first home built gaming PC. That being said, it doesn't really turn on...

I tried the pin test for the power supply, success, it worked
I tried to see if everything worked on the motherboard before putting it into the case ( CPU,CPU FAN, RAM. With the motherboard being connected to the power supply, as well as the CPU being connected to the power supply). I used a flat headed screw driver to start it (touched the pins with it, as I was suggested by numeral sources) and everything was working perfectly.

However! When I put everything together in the case, it didn't work so well. What happens everytime is that, the motherboard's green light appears, and when I hit the power button, my front red LED fans blinks once and then... nothing else

I am 99% sure everything is plugged in perfectly (checked SEVERAL times).

1. I tried powering it up with only 1 RAM stick... nope
2. I tried with NO RAM... nope
3. I tried without the GPU... nope

I did look at the 20+ steps for troubleshooting thing and it did not help me whatsoever.

If any of you guys know what to do... I will be forever grateful!

I'm not very familiar with the term '' short the pins'' ^^''

However If you mean unplugging all the power, reset, hdd led etc... and trying to start it with a screw driver, than I already tried in vain.

However if this is not what you mean may you explain? :D

Exactly what I mean. You create a short circuit by closing the loop with the screwdriver. If you remove it all from the case it works? Do you have an wires pinched? Try to run it with no HDD or DVD drive connected and the monitor plugged into the motherboard with no GPU installed.

When I remove it from the case, (leaving only the motherboard with the cpu + fan, ram, with the mobo and cpu plugged into the power supply, it works. I can make the PSU fan work and the CPU fan work. However, I thought it was the GPU but even without the GPU in the case it doesn't work.

This being said, I have not tried without the HDD- DVD being pluged at all. I tried by removing the power button, HDD led, power LED plugs and reset.

From what I can see, the things that might be causing problems are The HDD, the DVD drive, The GPU or the case fans, because those are things that I add when I am inside the case.

Although I must point out that Even without the GPU, or the all the power and LED plugs, it doesn't change anything.

Do you think it could be because of the HDD or the DVD drive? I have connected each of them to sata 6gb connectors and to the power supply.

My fans are all connected with molex (or morex don't know ^^), the last plug is a regular 4 pin plug that I pluged in the right thing, CHA_FAN1 (from my manual)

Should i try the molex that doesn't connect to my mobo but just to my psu?

Hi,

I'm sorry to revive an old thread.

I had the same exact issue as this guy, but now I only have my Fans connected to the PSU... and the last plug from the Molex wire is the 4 pin, that I thought would go into the SYS_FAN slot?

I have a Gigabyte - Z87MX D3H mobo and Gigabyte GTX 770 with a Corsair CX600 PSU.

Everything works, I have windows installed etc. But how would I ever get my case (Cooler Master N200) fans, including the GPU 770 fans to connect to the MOBO rather than PSU only? I would like to have my MOBO monitor the fans so they're not always running 100% speed, is that bad or does it really not matter?

Thanks,
