I am looking to upgrade my headphone situation.
I am currently using a pair of Sennheiser 201's which are great for 20 quid.
I have heard very good things about AKG k240's and so Iwas planning to pick up a pair. However, I listen to all of my music from my phone, an HTC One X.
My question is whether the AKG k240's would be suitable with my phone without an external amp.
Is an amp essential in this situation? I'd rather not pick one up but I would rather fork out the extra cash for a better sound.
If you do recommend an amp, could you suggest a good one for use with my HTC One X?
Thanks in advance.
An amp is probably not needed, as I think the HTC One series all have slightly higher voltage amps than regular phones, as I have an HTC One and I use V-Moda LP2's and they sound perfect , though they have slightly lower impedance than the AKG k240's. Also what format are most of your songs, because if most of your songs are MP3's, an amp will make pretty much no difference at all. But if you do decide to go with an amp anyways, I suggest any FiiO amp.
