I decided to start new thread since I've now changed which direction I'm going with this new computer:

I did a comparison on all three i7 4770 and didn't learn much with that: :)

comparison of the three i7 - 4770

I'm looking at these 3 Intels. I see the difference in the higher priced one, but on two of them, they are marked same price with some minor differences.
One is marked BX80646I74770 & other BX80646I74770S
Core i7-4770 or Core i7-4770S
85W vs 65W

So what does "S" stand for at end of numbers and is there any big difference in these as to which I should pick?

Thanks kindly for any help.

Ah yeah? On the newegg's Canada site, out of 56 reviews, it has 4/5 eggs with only 9% 1 egg.

And I searched a few reviews on the mobo and it seems fine...

Honestly, for any products, there's always going to be unfavorable reviews.

BTW, Tom's recently reviews two sets of Z87 mobos; one sub 220$, and another sub 160$. For the sub 220$, the ASUS Z87-PRO received their Smartbuy award... for the sub 160$, the ASUS Z87-PLUS received an "Approved" award from Tom's.

EDIT: Nice build. The only thinh I'd change is the GPU. I wouldn't pay 380$ for a 670... at that price you can...

S means that the CPU is designed for lower power consumption; 65w TDP (vs. 85w) . AFAIK, it's not overclockable. Also, the S has -300MHz clock speed compared to the regular 4770. So if it's the same price and your making a gaming rig, go for the regular (unless efficiency is important to you)!

Thanks. Do you know:
What is the "chipset"on This CPU
I'm trying to use the partspicker and don't know what to check for the chipset.
All I know is its LGA1150.

Which one is it? I'm automatically bounced to the Canadian site (I'm Canadian), and it leads me to newegg's home page.

EDIT: Well, I'm going to assume it's a Haswell :p, so basically the chipsets are Z87, H87, H81, Q87, Q85 and B85 Express. Z87 are gaming oriented, and are the voltage manipulating ones if you want to do considerable overclocking (make sure you have a "K" series processor (unlocked)).
