As the title says I have the MSI FM2-A75MA-E35 motherboard. None of the USB 3.0 ports are working, either front panel or rear panel. This is on a media pc so my front panel access is rather important. When I first started the pc the front panel ports were working and then once i got into windows it seems like they just shut off. I had plugged in a logitech k400 keyboard/touchpad combo and I initially accessed bios so i could boot from a windows disc for install. Once I got into windows install it shut off. Seems like this is probably a bad motherboard but curious if any other thoughts might be out there as to why this might be happening. All the rear panel usb 2.0 ports work

Solution
if you have unknown devices that means you still have drivers missing. download all the motherboard drivers for your motherboard from the MSI webpage... and i mean everything. also get the bios update for your motherboard and update the bios.

Okay, so it doesn't appear I have a hardware issue.

I have tried to install the drivers and nothing is working so far. I installed the latest catalyst software and that didn't work. Under my device manager I am showing the usb 3.0 host controller installed but I have unknown devices listed as well. I have uninstalled and restarted and tried to install the usb 3.0 driver and it will find it on the disc but still not install it, it encounters an error. I have gone into the disc and found the installer for the appropriate driver and that is still not working.

as i said earlier... usb3 isn't natively supported in windows 7... think back to the days before plug and play. Its the same type of issue. basically you need the drivers to load fully before the part will work. which means keyboards plugged into the usb3 port won't work until windows LOADS.

no big deal really... i mean why suck up a high speed usb3 port with a keyboard and mouse... two devices that certainly don't need that type of connection speed.

It turns out i have an hardware issue.
The usb 3.0 ports always worked until I popped in a 7970.
So ok maybe its a lack of power and I kinda fixed the problem by plugging in a 750 wat power supply.
2 of the 3.0's started working but 2 others and 1 in the front panel malfunction.
Device manager didn't detect unknown devices.

Its just weird that they worked for a time.
And I actually use my 3.0's for storage devices.
