I purchased an ASUS g750j laptop some time ago and recently put my samsung 840 250gb ssd from my desktop in it. I am having serious difficulties finding a way to boot windows from the SSD, as i have tried multiple different ways of doing it. First thing i did was clear the ssd while it was in the desktop to prevent that problem.

One program i tried was clonezilla, which i could not get to boot using my external hdd or my internal, but luckily my roommate brought some writeable DVDs with him. I resized the partition on my main disk that had windows on it to 200 gigs, and had only 100 gigs of data written, so i was clear on the size. So i launched clonezilla and it ran through, but it just wont boot to the SSD, when i boot to the HDD i can go in and look at every file on the SSD, including all the windows launch files, its just not letting me boot.

So then i said fuck it and went to install windows 7 ultimate onto the machine, but my BIOS couldn't see the disk, so i couldn't launch it.

I dont have a windows 8 cd that i could use to fresh install, but If i found a way to get it i could just verify it with my laptop. Can you download a file for this online?

Can anyone tell me what Im doing wrong in either case (mainly clonezilla)? I was told that i may have to change the boot partition in windows, but I haven't been able to find out how to do that.

Here is how to make a Win 8 install CD: http://www.redmondpie.com/download-windows-8-iso-x86-x64-file-directly-from-microsoft/
Be sure to disconnect the HDD before you do the Win 8 install to the SSD.
