Should I use my 120 GB SSD as a boot drive or as a cache?

I have a 120 GB SSD and a 500GB HDD. Which way would be better?

  1. Install the os on the SSD and use the hdd for storage.
  2. Performance wise it's better to boot directly off the SSD, and put files on the HDD. 120 GB is enough to boot from and hold a normal allotment of programs, unless you have a particular number of programs which take up a lot of space.

A 128 can actually hold the OS + a lot of applications. Not including games, of course.

And most cache schemes are limited to using only 64GB.
