Will Intel Core i3-3220 be enough for 1366x768 resolution?

Hello guys,

Im planning to build a pc with this specs

CPU- Intel core i3-3220

GPU- POWERCOLOR HD7770 1GB GDDR5 128BIT (AX7770 1GBD5-DH)

Mobo - MSI B75MA-P45

RAM - CORSAIR XMS3 4GB 1333MHZ (CMX4GX3M1A1333C9)

PSU - GIGABYTE GE-E570A-C3 SUPERB 80+ 570W

Now, I've learned that using a lower resolution will increase the burden in the CPU. I just want to know if the i3 3220 will be enough to play AlMOST all games at max considering i'll be playing at a 1366x768 resolution.

maybe i can upgrade to a 1600x900 monitor if my budget will let me but for the moment i want to use the 1366x768 native resolution of my monitor.

Thanks.

Having a lower res doesn't actually increase the burden on the cpu, it decreases the burden on the gpu, making it more likely that the cpu will be the bottleneck in a system though it won't perform worse than the same cpu running games at a higher res.

To the question, yeah an i3 will be able to max most single player games released before this year, though games such as crysis 3 require at least an i5 to run well at max, though ideally an i7.

Things such as multiplayer bf3 and almost certainly 4 will require a true quad to run well on populated servers. If i was in your situation I would get an i5, just something like a 3470 if you want ivy, and 8gb ram then wait a bit longer to get the better screen as the i3 will do for now but in...

People who say that the CPU does more at lower resolutions have quite an obtuse view of the workings of a computer. Whether or not the i3-3220 is suited to your needs depends on 1)what games you want to play, 2)what settings you want to play them at (ultra/max, in your case), and 3) what framerates you want.

It isn't the CPU that will determine what settings you run your games at, but the GPU. An i3 will run a game as well as an i5 will with the same GPU. The difference will be in loading times, menus and other computer processing uses such as multi-tasking with other apps.

The rendering of the graphics themselves is entirely done with the GPU in most modern games.

Though the rendering is all done on the gpu, the actual game is being run on the cpu which is feeding the information to the gpu to be rendered. An i3 can play most modern games maxed with a few exceptions such as mp bf3 and crysis 3.
The problem is that generally with a cpu bottleneck there are no settings which can be lowered to take the stress off like you can with the gpu because that would involve simplifying the actual game not just the rendering

Isn't that what I said?
