Would it make any sense to dedicate a cheap small SSD for the PAGEFILE or is this a mad idea?
I cant get my head around it, Some say just use the dam SSD , it will last! others say move it, some swear this and so on. I take it that putting it on the HDD slows the point of having a SSD in the first place, so would another really cheap small SSD just for the Pagefile work? they are getting cheaper.
(a bit like having a really inexpensive spare tire to cover for the really expensive ones, or in this case, the very important OS files etc.) just a mad thought.

Page-file is if you run out of memory, when you run out of memory stuff will be stored in the page file on your hard drive. A SSD would be a complete waste of money for that issue. If you are constantly running out of memory, then buy more memory.

Many programs (i.e AutoCAD) force writes to disk regardless of RAM available. I usually keep a small partition for just that usage:

C:\ Boot SSD

X:\Boot HD
D:\Page and temp files
E:\Programs
F:\Games
G:\Data

If I boot from the HD, X:\ becomes C:\ ...... both the SSD and HD boots use D:| for page and tempfile storage and it's on the very outside of the drive where HD is fastest and since nothing else there, page file never gets fragmented.

Many pundits recommend not putting page and temp files on SSDs because of the heavy write frequency wears out the SSD.

Thanks for sorting me out there, so with just the OS on the SSD , shifting Pagefile to the HDD and someone said give it 1GB for luck if it ever needed it and keep it off the SSD.
Would that do it?

I'm using AUTOCAD Lt - so how much space would you recommend for pagefile on the HDD? I plan on getting 16GB ram and 120GB SSD for windows 7 prem.
