Hello.

dv6-3130sa
4gb mem
Windows 7 home premium
Ati mobility HD 5470
i5-460M

I just managed to update the AMD driver without messing up the switchable graphics. I posted on here ages ago about getting a 3Dmark 11 score of 115 – did a factory restore and got it up to 435 ish.

Anyway I noticed just now on 3Dmark 11 that the CPU is running slower that it did back after the factory restore.

It was - 2793 MHz (Older version of 3DM only gives one result - newer ones give 2)

Now its - 2,534 MHz (Stock) and 2,527 Mhz (Turbo) >.<

Something is throttling the Turbo. It obviously should have a higher number for turbo than stock in the 3Dmark results. I downloaded that Intel(R) Turbo Boost Technology Monitor 2.6 and the blue line never goes past half way – and on CPUID CPU-Z I can see that it never goes above 2427.52 even when running a game.

It got a score of 444 after the new drivers – but the physics results were lower because it’s not using turbo properly so it should get a better score if it runs at proper speed again.

Any idea what is going on?.. – I don’t think it’s too hot..

Never mind lol mystery solved. I had the processor maximum state set to 99% in power management. I did that ages ago; think because I was getting high temps on some game or it was crashing a lot, can’t remember. I know it did help though else I wouldn’t have kept it.

Just did another 3DM test and got 3 point lower then before but the CPU speed results are back to how they should look and the physics works pretty much as good as ever. I did notice that Coretemp showed about 9* more on the high peak save thing after running it (89*) this time. Don’t know whether to put it back to 99% or not – think I’ll leave it how it is for now.
