When I replaced a P4 2.4/533 with a P4 3.06/533, system info says 1.59ghz only and 1.6ghz in the setup cpu info.. any explanation? a P4 2.53/533 has correct info.

I'm trying to find that out. I just flashed the BIOS from A.02 to A.09 but it made no difference to the clock speed of 1.60ghz for 3.06 P4 :(
I don't have Admin privileges on the Dell GX260 (yet) so I may have to reinstall Windows..

I think so.. I didn't know that the 3.06ghz was 64-bit.. that would explain the problem.. i'm surprised it will even run at 1.6ghz :O

yes my hobby is fixing pcs and laptops for friends.. recovering lost files.. speeding up old computers.. just found out that I'm recycling lol!
The funny thing is that while I've been working on 4 laptops and 4 pcs, MY Dell GX270's graphics chip finally failed and wouldn't boot until I put a GEForce 4 agp card in it, now it's running fine but those 2 fans are noisy cuz I can't close the lid with a full height card :( (but no matter cuz the power supply is hanging outside by the wires anyway ;)
btw thanks for figuring out that the 3.06ghz cpu is 64-bit.. good to know.

sorry I was mistaken.. the SL726 3.06ghz P4 says it's Mobile 32-bit socket 478 (not the socket 775 64-bit processor that you asked me about)
I think this has something to do with LFM and HFM.. Is it possible to increase from LFM (1.6ghz) to HFM (3.06ghz)? If so how?
