Its been about 3 yrs and I'm making a new rig. It'll be my second time so not an expert obviously. But I would like to ask the experts: whats one of the better ASUS motherboards? My future specs (any recs appreciated) are below. I've used ASUS motherboards and am comfortable with them, but my plan is to continue to make this my gaming rig capable of rendering high quality resolution with good performance. I'm not talking 4K resolution, just to be clear--that'll be years from now. Right now playing SWTOR and skyrim, planning to play EOS next year plus maybe continuing SWTOR. My old rig I'm giving to my wife...

CPU: i7 2600K not gonna overclock but would like the capability (will take from old rig)
Motherboard: Wanna use a high quality ASUS board, any suggestions?
GPU: GTX 690 (don't wanna have to sli anything in the next year or 2 to get good quality so going big here)
Cooler: Hyper 212 plus (used before)
Memory: debating
Storage: 512 GB SSD (debating brand) + 2 TB HDD @ 7200 rpm
PSU: must calculate w/ above specs
Monitor: debating
Case: debating
OS: gotta admit, I'm afraid to upgrade to Windows 8 because of possible compatibility issues between all my other laptops and desktops with Win 7

thanks guys for your help
budget not a big deal, I just wanna know what I'm dealing with

Solution
Might look at the Asus Z77-V or the Z77 Sabertooth both are ready for your CPU and will provide a good platform if you decide to OC, which you should, have a great OCing CPU there
