Upgrading NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GTS for WoW

Hey everyone. I'm a computer science student that likes to play World of Warcraft to unwind from a long coding session. Your help would be appreciated. Thank you!

APPROXIMATE PURCHASE DATE: Within the next two months.

USAGE FROM MOST TO LEAST IMPORTANT: I want to play World of Warcraft on the highest video settings the game has to offer at all times even in high density areas.

CURRENT GPU AND POWER SUPPLY: NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GTS, Power Supply 650 W

CPU: AMD Phenom II

MoBO: Asus M5A97

Ram: 20 Gigs

PREFERRED WEBSITE(S) FOR PARTS: newegg, amazon (I'm in the United States, NY)

PARTS PREFERENCES: I have a blue LED themed set up.

OVERCLOCKING: Don't know how. Would do if not too complicated.

MONITOR RESOLUTION: Using two 1920 x 1080 monitors that use IPS. Would like to have ability to use a third monitor if possible (though that is not absolutely necessary)

ADDITIONAL COMMENTS: Price range $100 - $300. Would go a little higher if it was really worth it.

The best video card that you can have for your computer/processor would be a gtx 760, without having any bottleneck issues

Thanks! Would either of the highlighted ones work?
  3. Except for the 680, 770, and 780, pretty much anything on that list would work great.

Would this work with my system?

  5. GTX 580? Why would you overpay for an old card like that? GTX 760's go for $140 less.

Where can I get one that would work with what I have for that much? On amazon they are all about 250 +

Okay, I'm just about ready to order that card except that it isn't the exact same one and wanted to double check. Will this one work?

    http://www.amazon.com/EVGA-GeForce-Dual-Link-Graphics-02G-P4-2763-KR/dp/B00DHW4HS4/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&qid=1379816636&sr=8-2&keywords=GeForce+GTX+760+2GB

Also, for the future how can I tell if it will work?
  8. Yeah go with the one from amazon it has a way better cooler
  9. Order placed for this one.
Thank you everyone for your great input. Should arrive by Tuesday. Will post an update on how it goes. :]

  10. Just make sure you have the correct amps on your 12v rail for your power supply, GeForce GTX 760 - 30A and a 500W PSU minimum

Have a 650 W PSU but how can I tell if I have the correct amps?

    Edit:
I think I see what you're talking about.

    http://ecx.images-amazon.com/images/I/612pe1pHNqL._SL1000_.jpg

Do both of them need to be used because I think I only have the small one and a bunch of 4 holed flat ones.
  12. Would you be able to link it?
  13. You are going to need a better power supply, Might want something like http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817182199 fairly cheap but more then enough for your video card just try to find it on amazon
  14. So my 650 W one won't work but that 530 W one will because it has the correct adapters? The PSU that I have now has the other one that the GPU needs but it's plugged into the motherboard along with the 20+ one.

    Edit:
    I'm using this right now
    http://www.amazon.com/Antec-TP3-650-Power-Supply-Three/dp/B000H92W5A/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1379827153&sr=8-1&keywords=antec+tp3-650

    Edit II:
Looked it up. Needs "An available 6-pin PCI-E power connector and an available 8 pin PCI-E power connector"
  15. You should have a 6 pin and a 6+2 pin power connector there is no 4 pin power connector for newer video cards
