With a $500 budget for the Pc you will have to go with an AMD or in Intel i3, an i5 will eat up half of that budget.

What you want to do is make your list of parts , motherboard, ram, hard drive, case and then see which one of these will fit in your system build.

This is the lowest priced quad core from Intel and I wouldn't go with a dual core as games are getting more demanding and you really need a quad core.
