I recently built a new PC, and have installed Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB for it. But my first try for installing Windows 8 64 bit was successful. But when I rebooted my PC it automatically went to Automatic repair. Then I came to know that the HDD has failed the SMART test and so I have replaced it with the new one as the online retailer had the 30 day replacement policy. But I had the same problem with the replaced HDD and it also started making clicking noises. And this clicking noises began when the system was in the midst of installing the OS. I was not able to access this replaced drive anymore.

So, why I am facing the problem?

I have never had 2 bad drives in a row from any one company ... Have you thought about getting a 3rd one from western dig I hear the black ones are better then the blue and green drives which I own. did you try to go online to there site and run there tests to see if the drive is actually bad? whos the etailer you bought them from can I ask.

Yes I did check with software that the WD provides that runs various test including the SMART test. I ran all the tests and it failed in all the tests. I bought the HDD on flipkart.com.

I too had the same thinking that WD Black models are better one but the same thing is causing me many problems.
