All pc monitors are LCD monitors. The difference between an older LCD and a newer "LED" monitor is the backlight. Older flat panel monitors used CFL light bulbs to illuminate the panel. LEDs do the same thing except they are smaller and use less energy.

You never really see CFL monitors any more. So usually the more important thing is what type of panel the display uses and the arrangement of the backlight.
