Hi,
This is my first thread. My question is that should I upgrade to an SSD. I use Visual studio 2012 professional, phothshop and yeah I browse a lot with listening to music. While I dont worry too much about boot time I just reformatted my hard disk and installed windows 8 still I find photoshop and visual studio take a bit of time to load. Opening tabs also tends to make google chrome hangs but that is very rarely. But yeah is it worth upgrading to an SSD while I only get 250gb. My system specs are AMD A8-4500m @ 1.9ghz 7640g+7670m, 8gb ram and 500gb hard disk it is basically a HP Pavilion g6-2005ax laptop. I use windows 8 64 bit and if I upgrade to an SSD I will most likely upgrade to this one http://www.flipkart.com/samsung-840-series-250-gb-ssd-internal-hard-drive-mz-7td250bw/p/itmdhwymgyx2htcn?q=Samsung+840+Series+250+GB+SSD+Internal+Hard+Drive+%28MZ-7TD250BW%29&sid=search.flipkart.com&as=on&as-show=on&otracker=start&ref=6f5703af-10e3-4b80-80da-50e826ef1cdf&as-pos=p_2&pid=IHDDHWYAFRSNG8GB
Any more suggestions are welcome please do suggest me.

Thanks

Samsung SSDs are highly rated and the one that you have chosen would be good but be aware that its write speeds, while VERY fast, are relatively slow for a SSD. A better choice, if you can afford it, is the 840 Pro: http://www.flipkart.com/samsung-840-pro-series-256-gb-ssd-internal-hard-drive-mz-7pd256bw/p/itmdjsgavnypzzsy?pid=IHDDJSG9FZ598NF8&ref=76507f5a-9957-4846-b382-8e4fd5b9d3ba

Samsung just released a new series of SSDs called the "EVO" series: http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/samsung-840-evo-review-1tb-ssd,3567.html
If you can find an EVO, they have very good performance at a price that is less than the Pro.

Good luck!

In my opinion, yes, you should get the SSD.

Look around for the Samsung EVO. It may be able to save you some money.

Is it launched in India if it is can you give me the link

Here is a link to Samsung India: http://www.samsung.com/in/consumer/memory-storage/ssd/ssd-840-evo

I'm not familiar with your retailers so I'm afraid that you'll have to shop around.

If you really want performance yet storage then do a RAID with your hdd and an ssd. Then you can move the files you want to load quickly to the ssd and get really good performance on them but if you dont have two sata ports then I reccomend a Seagate sshd (Hybrid Drive)

Will that really give any good solution when you compare it to the original SSD in the case samsung 840 series?

One of the best investment with high impact on performance is SSD. I do extensive electronic design and simulation work on my mobile workstation. Even my design and simulation file are on SSD. Got for it...File I/O related improvement is huge.
