Can I make my secondary hard drive back up my ssd?

Basically, this is a new build - got the os and drivers and all the basic essentials downloaded on my ssd.

Thing is, I don't have an external hard drive. So I was thinking if it is possible and recommendable to back up all that data onto my secondary 1tb hdd?

That`s the idea - you keep all you value data on the SLOWER BUT BIGGER drive - and all the OS and junk on the SSD

you can use some tools to tune up the OS for SSD - i use SSD Fresh
and some tools to clean the garbage of the OS to keep the SSD space free - DiskMax

If you like to manage easy folders on both SSD and HDD i use this - FreeFileSync
