Questions:
I play a lot of graphic intensive games, is the GTX 690 the best for the games at the resolution of the monitor? My opinion was yes because after looking at all of the benchmarks the 690 came out on top most of the time.

I am going to be overclocking the 4770K to 4.2 GHz and so what is the best cooler for preferably around £50 or less? I would also prefer if it was an air cooler, not water.

Is there anything I can improve on in this setup while keeping it at around the price that it already is?

Thank you to anyone who does reply.

For a 1440p single monitor, the 7990 is a better option due to a bigger bus width and higher memory, GTX 770 4GB SLI is also a better option than the 690. Also, you might want to go with a 3770K or 8350 instead. Haswell 4770K runs hot compared to the 3770K and offers basically no performance increase. Games are also super GPU-bound at that resolution. The Hyper 212 EVO can get the 3770K to 4.2 with ease.

If you believe the article posted here earlier, then AMD's latest GPU is going perform between a 690 and a Titan, but no doubt be significantly cheaper. They're announcing it on Wednesday if you're interested.

No problem ;)

The 690 is essentially two under clocked 680s on a single PCB. So twin 770s is a significantly better performer over the 690 and cheaper.....

With the 770s, I'd suggest the MSI model (EVGA SC series has stock VRM and PCB, everybody else uses custom PCB and beefier VRM in factory overclocked cards)
With the 780 would suggest Asus

http://uk.hardware.info/reviews/4639/10/nvidia-geforce-gtx-780-asus-vs-evga-vs-inno3d-vs-msi-conclusion

All four manufacturers - ASUS, EVGA, Inno3D and MSI - made something special out of their GeForce GTX 780. The card that impressed us the most, however, was the ASUS GTX780-DC2OC-3GD5. The new cooler works like charm, and its performance is clearly reflected by the test results. The card also manages to stay very quiet and offers the best overclocking potential thanks to the new cooler. ASUS earns the Gold Award for its card.

We can't leave out the card from MSI. While it's slightly less overclocked and has less overall overclocking potential than the cards from Inno3D and EVGA, it's extremely quiet under load, the most silent of them all. It's also significantly cheaper than the other three, so if you're not planning on extreme overclocking, this MSI card is the best option.

An honorable mention goes to the Inno3D card. Out of the box it's the fastest, and while you can yourself get the other cards to the same level of performance, it's nice to have it guaranteed if you're not an experienced overclocker.

The EVGA ACX Superclocked also isn't a bad card. The only problem is that about the same amount of money will net you the ASUS card, a card which is superior in terms of cooling, noise and overclocking potential. EVGA will have to drop its prices to MSI levels to keep its card interestin

4GB isn't going to do anything for you .... it even drops frame rates in some games:

http://alienbabeltech.com/main/gtx-770-4gb-vs-2gb-tested/3/
At 2560 x 1600

Borderlands 2 gets 24 fps w/ 4GB, 24.1 w/ 2GB
Call of Pripyat gets 43.6 fps w/ 4GB, 43.8 w/ 2GB
Metro 2033 gets 17.5 fps w/ 4GB, 17.4 w/ 2GB
BF3 gets 50.6 fps w/ 4GB, 50.9 w/ 2GB

Just about ant aftermarket cooler of any consequence will hit ya too tall RAM, get Corsair low profile or Mushkin low profile modules.

If overclocking, Id upgrade to the HX850 (has lower ripple and better voltage stability then AX series) ....TX just fine if not OCing, GS CX series just don't cut it

As for ya cooler, the Phanteks sits on top but will cost ya 75 pounds at amazon
