I have a i3-2130 and a Radeon 7770. I want a CPU that will not bottleneck my GPU. And i would not wanna replace my motherboard either if possible. Thanks:)

Don't know what your budget is but i5-3570K is a good choice. Or i5-3350P / 3470 for more of a budget. Doesn't really make any sense to go from an i3-2130 to an i3-3220 as there's very little difference.

Would a i5-3570K bottleneck it?

If your MB isn't a Z77, you might as well go with something like the 3570 (non-k) as you wouldn't be able to overclock on a non Z series board.

So many folks use the term bottleneck without understanding what it refers to in a PC. A PC bottleneck happens when one system component is maxed out on resources (CPU, GPU, RAM) and another component isn't able to use it's full potential because it's waiting on the maxed out component. You want your CPU and GPU to generally max out at the same time (a balanced system).

Right now, your CPU isn't the bottleneck. your graphics card is (though it is fairly close, which is why I said your system was close to balanced). You will see more gaming benefit form upgrading the graphics card first.

I would argue his system is pretty balanced right now...

That i3 may be great for older titles, but in the newer titles, his CPU will be taxed every bit as much as the GPU.

I originally said (and actually repeated in the post you quoted), that his system is fairly close to balanced already.

As far as how games tax the CPU and GPU, the pace of 3+ thread games will likely pick up in the future, but unless the majority of games he plays use 3+ threads (i highly doubt it), he's better off with a GPU upgrade first.

The individual cores on a 2130 are the same as those in a 2k series I5. There will be little difference between an i3 and a similarly-clocked I5 in 1-2 thread titles.

Don't get me wrong, if he were building from scratch, I would recommend a quad core (or more) part, but as his system is right now, the 7770 is the (slightly) weaker component for most titles.

I do encourage you to eventually switch to a 4 (or more) core CPU, as future games will use 3+ threads more often (or if you mainly play BF3 or Crysis 3, or one of the few games that use 3+ threads). Other than that, you're better off upgrading the GPU first.

So i need a GPU upgrade more than a processor upgrade. What is a good GPU for around 200-250$. So if i get a GPU like that i can get the i5-3570K?

For around $250? You can get a HD 7950 for under $200 if you look around right now. The new R9-270X will launch @ $199 as well.

On the reviews i saw on new egg, they all said it was hot and took alot of power. And will the R9-270X be good when i come outs?

Depends on the type of 7950, what is your full specs, don't expect to run it with something like a CX430.
