I started my computer up today to find that it had no internet connection. It could detect my home network, but any attempt to log in is met by "Can't connect to this network. Running ipconfig shows everything as "Media disconnected", and very little info is shown in systeminfo. I've tried flushing the DNS, reseting the TCP/IP and Winsock catalog and even refreshing windows 8. I also tried reinstalling the drivers for my wireless network card (An Asus PCE-AC66. The only update that has happened between now and the last time I was online with it is for windows Defender. I tried manually setting the IP address to what the router has it registered as, to no avail as well. What should I do?

My first suspicion would be the Windows Defender update......try disabling it.

Open Windows Defender ,

Click Tools, and then click Options.

Click Administrator, select or clear the Use this program check box, and then click Save.
Administrator permission will likely be required.

I thought about that and tried connecting with windows defender off, windows firewall off and both off. Nothing works! It looks almost like my router hasn't provided an IP address to my PC. I can try and connect, but it will always fail and my router shows no sign of any effort being made in the first place. It's even wiped the MAC address of my wireless card from it's devices list...

Any chance you're using the MAC filter on the router?
If the MAC filter was on, and the MAC address from you computer has been removed from the router, that would cause the problem.
I apologize, I'm not terribly familiar yet with Win 8, only played with it a little bit.
Hopefully someone more knowledgable with it will respond.
