I just built a new Computer with Asus Maximus hero motherboard and can't get the machine to boot. I can power it on but digital display says 00 and no signal to monitor from both graphics card or motherboard HDMI slots. Also mouse and Keyboard are dead. My specs are as follows
Asus Maximus Hero Motherboard
Intel I5 4670 cpu
Gskill Ripjaw 16 gb (2 8gb sticks)
Sapphire hd 7950 GPU
AZZA Titan 1000 watt PSU

I have followed checklist from this site to double check everything. Verified Ram is compatible via Gskill Ram configurator.
It is my first build so I have double and triple checked everything and it all looks ok. I am leaning towards CPU DOA but not real sure. Any help would be appreciated

Yes I had standoffs already mounted on my case( Rosewill Blackhawk Ultra gaming Case) I had to move 3 of the standoffs over one notch but I verified that no other standoffs were mounted under board

It might sound silly but it helped me so try the next thing :

1. Disconnect your power cable from the psu and press the power button to empty all the current that is left.

2. Remove the small battery (CMOS) and take somthing made from metal like a screwdriver and insert it where the battry was - by tuching 2 metal surfeces that are inside (to create a closed circuit) and put the battery back.

3. Remove your rams and place onlyl one in the third slot

4. If you know your gpu works then plug your monitor in itbut if you dont so plug it in the mobo slot

5. Plug in the power cable and tell me if it worked

Good luck man

Graxis. I just built my computer today and it also won't boot. I have similar set up like yours, a little different.

i7 4770K
Maximus Hero VI
8GB x4 G.Skill Snipers
HX 850 Corsair PSU
NH-D14 (I think it's called)
Blackhawk Ultra

It started off awesome, it booted to ROG screen then it said fan error. The system won't boot properly because the fans were running too low, I guess. So I took out the ultra noise connector, then it started given me errors. AE was solved by unplugging everything not needed, like addons and storage drivers, then I had to FlashBIOS my mobo, then I go to error 99, then I go to the last error which is D7 - supposedly I'm very near to passing all the checks or something. I gave up man. I worked like 9 hours on this fucking thing. So right now some people say you gotta take out EVERYTHING (the mobo specifically and everything on it) then take out the little battery in the middle, wait 5 minutes or 20 minutes or whatever then put it back on, put the stuff back on with very minimum and start up the computer. So that's my next step. PLEASE WORK GOD DAMN IT! Urgh ...

I just experienced the same issue with my Maximus VI Hero and the fix was that I did not have the 8-pin ATX12v cable connected from the PSU to the mobo.

I was curious if this was your fix as well? I see your original post was from September so assumed you had it figured out by now and wanted to know if it was the same fix?

Thanks.

1) Fan speed warning can be circumvented by changing the fan speed low limit setting in UEFI. You can set the trigger to lower speed, or you can disable the warning entirely.

2) Instability issues - first thing that sticks out in your parts is the memory modules. Is that a single kit or two kits combined? If it's a single kit, I'd set XMP in UEFI to start with and see if that helps.

Hi, I ran in to same issue last night , after connecting the 8-pin ATX12v I was able to see the screen and complete OS installation. However, when connect my GPUs using a x16 x16 raiser cables (mining rig), nothing was coming on the screen (I tried all possible connections to monitor thru VGA, Dvi and HDMI). I only see the two digit "AE" code the tiny display on motherboard.

Anyone had any issues using GPU raiser cables x16 or x1 on this motherboard (Asus ROG Maximus VI Hero)?
Please help.

Thx

you need both the 24pin and 8 pin power connected.

Did you also follow the little arrow on the processor and put it in correctly?

Did you examine the socket for any bent pins?

4670 should work in there right out of the box.

Also is your monitor hooked up to your GPU and not the on board chip?

Check and make sure all cables are seated correctly and ram.

Where did you learn that pressing the power button will empty the current that's left?? If you have some kind of documentation, please provide us with it. If not, don't post anything that doesn't exsist, but in your head. When you press off on PSU and pull out the power cable, there is NO curent left. It's gone!

And why do you think that putting one Ram module in the third slot would do anything else but allocating memory?

You dont' know anything, but trying to be a tech. That's hillarious.

Your support is worth NOTHING!

I'm looking forward to see some documentation regrding the left over current and the RAM in third slot "solution".

So many "experts" and so few who have knowledge.

When you press off on PSU and pull out the power cable, there is NO curent left. It's gone! - only a layman would think that disconnecting power removes all current.
There are capacitors on motherboard. Capacitors store small amounts of energy for short duration, with everything disconnected, some capacitors may still have charge in them, this would not 'reset' the system. To completely remove all the charge, you must disconnect the power and then try to press the power button.
RAMs are configured in dual channel memory mode on most of the mobo's see the mobo installation guide. A1-A2-B1-B2. The mobo guide will tell you how to install RAM in correct order. A single stick would go in B1, however, depending on your mother board, two sticks would go in A2 and B2.
The opinion expressed by charmer is very accurate. Before you comment on expert opinion, you might want to grab an engineering degree. this is coming from a guy who has a masters degree.
