So this is my third graphics card my third hdmi cord, and the graphics card lights up and spins but i get no video display (the first 2 the fans wouldn't even spin), am i doing something wrong since i dont have a operating system on there and since i thought the hardware was plug and play? Is there something you need to do to get the video playback to show? Please help. I have connected the 2 8 pin connectors, and it works i just dont get anything for display. I dont know if i need a certain disc to get it to work so i can install the operating system or what.

Solution
With the red CPU fault light on the system not going anywhere. As a tech have start crossing off parts and issues. As posted can have. Bios issues...a dead short....bent pins under the CPU...bad power supply. If you think it a bios issue get rid of the mb for one that will run your CPU out of the box. Or if there a local computer store or micro center see if the can help you flash the bios. May be helpfully pay small fee let local tech drop in and older CPU and update the mb for you. If your in high school ask for help in the tech class. In collage there. May be tech class or free it help guy. Also call asus up ask them to walk you through USB updating.
May be a issue renaming the bios file that we dont know of.
Ddb on some system the ipgpu or mb video s set first. Try hdmi cable on the onboard video if it has video go to video devices and set it to peg/pci as first video output and see if the gpu comes on. You may have to turn off muilt monitors to turn off the onboard gpu. On the mb make sure the eight pin power plug on the edge of the mb is plugged in or some video cards won't have the power they need to turn on. If the video card is a newer 600/700 or amd if you get onboard gpu video check and update the mb bios.

I dont have on board video, mine doesn't have integrated video on board, it runs off a gpu, I've also flashed the bios to the newest setting. I run a radeon 7950 vapor-x on a sabertooth 990fx r2.0 with amd fx-8350.

If you have an older video card try it to see if it the gpu or bios issue. Look at your power supply it should be a good 600 or larger unit with one rail. If it has two rails it may not have the amp rating to power the gpu. Check that you used motherboard standoffs and the mb not grounded out. On the mb there a black eight or four pin power plug, make sure that connected
Check that your ram in right and tight. Try the other video slot to rule out a bad slot or dirt or bent pin in it. Take the mb out of the case and with just one ram stick..power and the gpu see if the system posts. If there no post check the mb LEDs see if there a fault or missing led.
If it not the gpu the next part is the power supply to check.

The only light i get on my motherboard is a red LED light by the cpu, i know its not the motherboard because everything starts fine, and fans spin that are connected to the motherboard. The 8 pin connectors are connected, and the big 24 pin connector is connected, everything works except the display.

Red CPU light on asus mb.....wrong bios...missing bios code to post. The power supply not outputting the 12 v power on the eight pin eps connector. The mb is shorted or bent or there a bent CPU pin. If it bios issue use an older CPU to flash the bios.

What if you dont have an older cpu, this is a fresh build (everythings new), also would this cause no video feedback as well?

Read the bios rev sticker...check with the mb CPU qal list see if it a new or Older bios. Contact the mb vendor they should be able to send you a newer bios chip with the updated code so you can pull the old chip out. If you don't want to call the place you got th mb and return it for one that has the right bios on it.

Well if you are on your 3rd GPU and still not getting it to work there could be something else wrong. Just because the fans come on and the light on the board is light does not mean there could not be something wrong with the motherboard. Do you have a different GPU you could try. Preferably one that is known to work correctly.

From your sig do you still have access to the Sapphire HD 7770 to check that everything else is working correctly?

I have 2 of the 7770's but amazon had a defective stock so when i plug them in and everything the fans won't spin on either of them, thats why i went with a more reliable one. Also I am running a xfx 850 watt single rail power supply, so i know its not cause of being "under-powered"

Have you tried the new Card in your old rig to rule out bad card. Right now you could three parts that could be the issue. A bad card...a weak power supply...more then Likly with two other gpu acting up. A bad mb or a chipset issue causing gpu not to post. Check online to see if the power supply you have is a seasonice unit that rebranded. If not see if someone has a test unit to rule out weak unit. If it a mb chipset or mb issues... Google to see if other people with same brand or gpu having same no post issue. Also google to see if the mb you have have a lot of bugs or high failure...some mb are crap...sometimes have dig online to find out that there qa issue with some mb. If the gpu works fine in the other pc I swap the os and mb to rule out both.

Ddb Make sure your flashing the bios with bios for 990fx rv2 the last bios was 1903. Your mb like my sabertooth has a USB flash back port to up rev the bios from standby power without the need of posting the mb. Download the bios to a fat 32 USB stick unzip the bios file put the stick on the lowest USB port under the Ethernet port it should have white lable to mark it. Then hit the USB flash back port. The port should start blinking and run for a few min and turn off. On some asus mb you need to rename the bios file, if you do there be a bios renamer built into the download file.

Okay it started flashing but has stopped and had a solid light on it for about 3 minutes now is that normal or?

Make sure the renamer shorten the file and you had the pc off. The bios updater will only run with the mb off. Check your mb guild to see that the USB stick in the right port. If the mb has video and you can get in the bios rev on the first page. There also a bios update tool inside the bios under advance mode.
