Fractal R4 Airflow - Should the PSU face up/down on carpet? Other options?

I've ordered a Fractal R4 case for my first build and I'm wondering whether the PSU should face up or down if the computer will be placed on carpet. I'll also remove the top hard drive bay for better airflow as I won't be using it. Should I arrange the fans differently? Or is the stock arrangement fine?

If the computer is placed on the carpet and the PSU is mounted on the bottom, it is better to mount the PSU facing up towards the internals.
