i have the Asus p5n73-am motherboard and the Nvidia GeForce 8400 gs, i need a graphics card that is more powerful and that is compatible with the motherboard, any ideas?

What's your price-range? Maybe a GTX 650 Ti or an HD 7790 if you're strapped for cash.

You just need a Motherboard with a PCIe 16x slot. Some Cards support the new PCIe 3.0 so check if the motherboard has a PCIe 3.0 16x .

...he listed his motherboard for reference (Asus p5n73-am). Any card will work with any PCI-E slot, regardless of which gen it is (backwards compatible), so he doesn't need PCI-E 3.0 to run a PCI-E 3.0 compatible card.
