Hey guys, i need some help.

So, my Razer mouse has been broken(a little bit) right before the USB plug. I'll show you

This is the cable

------(broken i think)-== < usb plug

It probably broke, because it bent a few times i guess. So i always have to play and move with the cable for it to work.

Is there a way if I can get like a new usb plug and cut the cable before the broken part and put it together by connecting the cables? Or do i just get a new mouse :p Anyways

Thanks in advance!

You can fix it, which isn't that hard. You cut it off and open it up, then reconnect everything. You could also just use the end from another cable if you want, though it'd look like crap after you got done.

If the mouse is in warranty, just send it back. If the mouse has other problems, just get a new one.

Yep, if you connect everything right, it should work just fine. If you do something wrong, it probably won't work at all. I would be more afraid of hardware problems than of driver issues, things such as shorting out the USB power or damaging the mouse.

Something like this http://www.ifixit.com/Guide/USB+Cable+Repair/12754/1 ?

But I don't have a solder machine or whatever you call it. Can i just wrap the bits of copper together?

That was what I meant by using the end from another cable. You need enough wire to be able to work with it and if your current cable is broken at the plug, you probably wouldn't have enough. If you are lucky, the wires inside will use the same color coding or you might be able to get an original cable. Be careful doing this. If you wire it wrong, you could ruin the mouse. The worst that might happen to your machine is that it could crash like mine did with a bad graphics tablet.

Soldering would be the best option. Twisting the wires together isn't going to be very strong and could have a weak connection and cause more problems itself. That said, nothing is going to stop you from doing this.
