hi guys! I need some help...I got this new mobo...installed windows 7 and audio doesn't work, there's a red cross on speaker icon saying "speakers, headphones are not plugged in" I've installed the audio drivers that came with it and also updated drivers from manufacturer's site but nothin's worked....installed windows 8 but same issue on it! in realtek audio contro...if I disable "front panel jack detection"..the cross goes away and I could access sound control but still no audio...i'm frustrated and depressed ...please advise either its a driver issue or onboard audio is screwed up?

it doesn't matter if headphones are connected in the front panel or not ...there is no audio at all!
I said that if I "disable front panel detection" from realtek sound control then cross goes away and I can access volume control and mixer (with cross if I click on volume icon it starts troubleshooting and says headphones or speakers are not plugged in).....somewhere I read that sometimes mobo picks gpu's hdmi for sound card and disables onboard audio...well I tried that too...I unplugged my gpu, cleared cmos memory , put bios to default optimized settings..installed fresh windows 7 ...then first thing after installin' windows...is I installed audio drivers (updated) from gigabyte site for this mobo...and facepalm!!! still its a cross sayin' same thing! have tried every possible solution....but it's a dead end...do ya think that its mobo problem and I should send I back 'cuz it got 1 year warranty? asus p5p41t-le would be better or should I just buy a soundcard and stay with it?

motherboard replacements can take quite a while, I had one take about 2 months before. So I guess it really just depends on if you are a patient person or not. A sound card probably would do it but I would also verify that everything is plugged in correctly. sometimes not having something plugged into the wrong header can cause weird issues with audio. Like I had a Ac audio plugged into my motherboard before by accident, and it gave me similar issues. So I would just go back and look through everything because even the simplest of things can be overlooked so just make sure you have the hd audio plugged into your motherboard. If not you could invest into a sound card to see if it works to save yourself sometime from having to rma. The only other thing that I could think of is disabling multi-streaming which you may of done already

yes..I've got all the settings right! there's no more cross on the sound icon....but there's still no sound! I guess onboard audio is screwed up...! anyway, thanks for the help pal..much appreciated! i'm gonna check soundcard on it and if it works then maybe i'd stay with it or it's goin' back to Disneyland !
