Self build. One beep. No post.

Hey all. Firstly sorry for another of these posts. In my defence I have spent a day and a half trawling posts and following suggestions.

So the after some jiggery pokery and removing the mobo from the case everything seems to power up with one beep. The Hdd spins but doesn't post. Presumably as everything is getting power its not a mobo problem? Everything is new except the Cpu and Hdd which were both fine when I removed them from the old case. Totally stumped. Would it be wise to replace the Ram? I only used one stick as I have to wait for the other to come into stock. Could this be a problem with an i5 processor? Many thanks in advance.

Since you do get one short beep it seems it does get past the POST process. I would check graphic card connections. BTW, does it power up once then shut off and then power up again?

I don't have a seperate graphics card. No it runs continuously. But nothing to the monitor or operating noises from the hdd, only the slight sound and feel of the hdd whirring. All fans work.

Since you do get a POST beep I don't think anything is wrong with your mainboard, cpu or ram. Have you checked that the internal graphics is enabled? Are there any jumpers for that?

Have you tried resetting the BIOS?
According to your board's manual there are no jumpers for internal graphics. It can be changed from BIOS. Default is internal graphics is on. BTW I hope your BIOS version supports your cpu.
P.S. Is your POST beep long or short?

Jumped the cmos and removed the battery. Still the same. I presumed as the mobo is compatible with the processor it would be OK? It is one short beep from the mobo. None from the hdd. Could the hdd be shot and still whirr but no beeps?

According to your mainboard's manual (page 17), "One single short beep will be heard if no problem is detected at system startup.".
Since hdd whirs, it seems OK. But since this is a new board it can't boot from the old boot hdd. You will have to do a clean install of OS.
You should get something on screen. At least you should get into the BIOS screen. Maybe you may try a different display.

The display is fine. I put the hdd back on my old set up. It said the os was broken and needed to mend it (paraphrasing). It's now working fine. What I don't know is if it was as a result of trying to load it on the new mobo or it was diffy whilst trying to load it on the new mobo and that was why it wouldn't boot.

This is the processor I am using in the set up. It's new. Intel Celeron G1620 2.70GHZ 2C 2T 2M S1155 Processor.

On paper I can't find a reason why it wouldn't work in that mobo. Or am I missing something?

Boot?
Just to be sure, what is the problem?
1. Switched on you hear a short beep, fans work, hdd produces a whirling sound but other than that the pc is dead. Absolutely nothing on screen, screen is absolutely dead too...
or
2. Display shows the initial display texts but stops booting saying operating system not found.
Which of these is your problem?

I suppose you have cable that has D-sub 9 nine pin connector on both sides and connect it to the D-sub port on mainboard. You should not use the DVI-D port with a DVID-6>D-Sub (VGA) adapter.

No I've never used one. Tho on the description for the mobo on ebuyer it says I may need a graphics card for some processors. Says look at the list. But there is no list!! Helpful. So I guess a cheap graphics is the next step.

That would be my next step.......

Any chance of finding that list online, maybe in the mobo manual (usually not too hard to find those online in PDF format)?

Any other PC's in the house you might borrow a graphics card from, just for the purpose of testing?

Kursun, I have ordered a graphics card. Should be here Monday. The next step after that would be a HDMI monitor. Or maybe I can try it on my HD TV? Times are definitely changing.....fast!
