I have a really good offer on the Seagate HDD but I've heard horror stories about noise and bad sectors appearing etc, which hard drive should I go for if the WD costs me about 1/3 of the price more?

Would the 64mb cache make noticable difference in performance? Which HDD is quieter?

As storage the price is what I would go by. I have two seagate drives and am very happy with them although I had to RMA one with in the first month.

Historically Seagate drives have been quieter while WD has been the loudest.... The Barracuda (7200.12) was among the quietest.

THG no longer includes sound testing in their charts so I used the latest one that did
