if you ever use teflon tape, put it on the opposite the way the fitting screws in. that way it won't "unwind" and ball up as you screw the fitting in.
( threads in clockwise so put tape on counter clockwise )
Also if the teflon tape could affect a coolant flow like getting stuck in a water block, always start the teflon tape one thread looping back from the end, that way the threads won't cut off the part past the end, but if the teflon tape is applied past the end it will cut it off and get into the flow routing.
Once again teflon tape is not needed with standard G1/4 O-ring water cooling fittings, but I did use the 1/4" NPT thread barbed fittings on my home made insulated reservoir, and the copper channeling water block that came with standard 1/2" ID barbed 1/4" NPT fittings, requiring teflon tape.
