Hi,
I have recently built a new pc after being away from a desktop for a while.
I have an issue that the aftermarket akasa Nero 3 cooler is too short and doesn't clear the ram heat sinks and so I've had to move the ram to the second channel to make it fit.
What's the best solution in terms of a different heat sink/ closed water cooler?

My system:
Antec 302 all black case.
Intel i5 4670k
Asus z87- k motherboard
Corsair vengeance 8gb 1600mhz
Sea gate 7200rpm 1tb hdd
Cpu cooler akasa Nero 3
DVD rw drive
Corsair cx 750w psu
Thanks for your help.

P.s another issue is that the bios is recognising the ram as 1333mhz, help with that would much appreciated.

First you have two chanel memory controller. Best way to use it is two sticksmemory.
So buy other stick. (same as you have)
In bios you can otmize memory. Just ckick open memory speed and make it to 1600MHz.
That memory most likely will go faster than 1600 so you may try 1800MHz as well.
Best if you get this cooler. http://www.amazon.com/Thermalright-BW-Support-Socket-Driver/dp/B008YTUN38
And you can use high memory just fine :)
Or this. Noctua NH-U12S

RAM SPEED (another answer):

Clicking "XMP" for modern motherboards with Intel CPU's should automatically configure both your CPU and your RAM to the correct settings.

If your DDR3 memory has a profile in the BIOS it will go to the optimal settings.

However, if you overclock the CPU, you drop out of XMP into Auto or Manual mode which may then drop your memory back to 1333MHz so you may have to play around with the settings for both the CPU and memory in this case.

You should almost NEVER have to manually change your DDR3 timings.

*If the DDR3 memory doesn't automatically configure (on XMP) then you might try updating the BIOS if an update exists. BIOS updates sometimes contain new memory profiles.
