I got a motherboard that supports Athlon XP processors, currently, in there is an Athlon XP 2100+, I can easily install something waaayy better, but could this, coupled with 3gb of DDR RAM, and any AGP 4x/8x 1gb graphics card, do ANY light gaming? Because if this chip can handle light gaming, and I get something better, I can use it for a few years until I actually have money for a new system. And by light gaming I mean Minecraft, HL2, Portal, Gmod.

You know, I had an old Athlon XP 2600+ HTPC. It was great and I used as an HTPC until 2008. My primary rig with a Core 2 Duo E6600 eventually became my HTPC when I upgraded to the C2Q Q9450. Sadly I could not even give away my Athlon XP HTPC for free and I really didn't have the space to store it away for long. I eventually had to throw it away back in 2009/2010. :(

Yeah, it'll play older games just fine. Be sure to check system requirements 1st. I remember playing Morrowind on it. Gog.com is a good site to find older games for low prices. They even have more recent games, but you should stay away from them.

Wow... they have Privateer 2: The Darkening (1996) for $6. I remember playing that game. Hmmm.... I need to...
