Hello, I need some help. I am new to this whole "Build a PC" thing, and I am not totally sure what kind of graphics card I should get.

I would like to run good FPS- 60+

I will be using my PC for: -Minecraft, -Recording Minecraft, -TF2, and -web broswing

My budget is 170$ for a graphics card. Have any ideas?

More about : graphics card run minecraft

I would say get the 7870 from sapphire, my 7750 can run minecraft at 190FPs. In just about anything AMD sapphire is the way to go.

Go with the XFX Radeon HD 7870. Because your budget is so low that is why I am recommending the AMD card which offers the best value for money deal with every Graphics Card. Nvidia is a bit costly and you could take a look at the GTX 660..

How would this PC rig do? I used the HIS Radeon HD 7870 2GB Video Card. http://pcpartpicker.com/p/1Guhj

I would rather put in an Intel Core 3570K. It has an unlocked multiplier, extremely OC friendly and better than any AMD processors in gaming. With that add a Z87 mobo and the rest of it fits just fine..

Gam3r01, so your saying I'm better off with this build? http://pcpartpicker.com/p/1GuD8

Prithwi2050, I would rather just stick with an AMD 8-core processor. Only because I haven't had a bad experience with AMD itself.

Please note: My budget for the whole PC is 850-950$

I would rather advise you to browse quite a bit. By the way do you only intend to play games or anything related to video-editing or animation? If you are gona use your PC for the former cause then go for Intel or else stick to AMD. I myself am an AMD fan( I had the Phenom II X4 965BE). Now I have the Intel Core i7 3960K (courtesy Tomshardware reviews) and I am reaping its benefits..

I'll give you a computer under 1k that can play minecraft, tf2, & crysis 3 (most demanding game so far) all on max settings.
1tb harddrive
i7 4770k cpu
gigabyte gtx 760
z87 pro motherboard
3-5 fans
mid tower case
600 watt power supply
16 gb ddr3 ram
Buy the middle stuff, don't buy stuff used, REALLY cheap, or REALLY expensive.

you know that a 780 cant max Crysis 3. Crysis 3 will kill a 760 with a ease.

Woud rather have a i5 4670K and a 770. Then i7 4770K and a 760 :)

I have the i7 4770K + i am gonna order a 780Ti. Good cpu. But not worth it. if you are on a bugdet :)

Currently i have a 780 classified. Which i am gonna send to RMA today. do intensive coil whine. my cpu reach the high 70`s. With a H100i + some good nocuhta (or howerver it is spelled) fans. Mine is even dellided, Running 4.4ghz on 1.265V. Cache on 4.2ghz and V on 1.285V :)

A 770 can easily max crysis 3 with a good fan. Your cpu isn't gonna last long.

Edit: I just watched a video and a r9 270x gets an average of 42 fps on crysis 3. An r9 270x is only $200! So a 770 will obviously be able to do it.

I will swap it out untill skylake anyway ;)  So youre saying that a 770 will max out Crysis 3 on a 1080p screenfull with full AA?

EDIT: found a link: http://www.bit-tech.net/hardware/2013/05/31/nvidia-gefo...

It has a avg of 56Fp with no AA, Then it`s not max, But ultra....

Ehm as I know, minecraft isn't using the graphiccard too much. The whole rendering is done by the cpu. The graphicscard is just printing it on the screen. Regarding this fact, not your graphics card but your processor has to be good...
