Hello.

I have a desktop that is in need of an upgrade but I'm not sure whether to upgrade my desktop or go for a laptop. The reason I'm unsure is that I am currently in between towns atm (Long story) I spend roughly 3-4 days a week in each town but can sometimes spend 2 weeks at a time in the one without my desktop.

Obviously having a laptop would be ideal because it would mean that I would always have it to hand and I could work on things whenever I have time. However I'm not sure if going this route will sacrifice power. So my question is what do you guys think is the best choice. If I do get a laptop will I be sacrificing a lot just to gain more time on my machine?

Money isn't really an issue, I want to get a machine that is future proofed so I won't have to upgrade for a good couple of years (If that's possible). I do a lot of Photoshop, Video editing, Music recording and of course Gaming so I know I'm going to need to a high powered machine but I've never owned a laptop so I don't want to spend a huge amount of money and go out on a wing to end up buying complete trash and be stuck back at square one only with a lot less than I started.

Thank you!

Its all about what you will be doing on your computer. If you plan on doing heavy gaming then no laptop would help in that regard. If you aren't playing games or constantly using heavy programs then theres nothing wrong with getting a laptop. However since money isn't an issue, you can always opt for the new Razer Blade. Its a very powerful laptop even for gaming but it is quite pricey.

Keep in mind the longevity of desktops more often than not surpasses that of laptops by a few years.

Unfortunately Razer don't ship the Blade outside of the US or Canada atm, I tried messaging their customer service to which they replied they had nothing planned for a Europe launch. That being said I have considered the MSI GS70 Stealth, seems to be the closest thing to a Blade that I could find. But obviously with the price of that I could build a much more effective Desktop system which is why I wanted to see what others thought.

I think that if you're not going to be gaming and you're not running heavy programs for work then you don't need anything too powerful. I think that any laptop would more than suffice for every day things and It won't take up much space. Unfortunately most computers now are built for and run windows 8 which I strongly dislike.
