A while back, I installed a new graphics card (a sapphire amd 7850 dual fan oc edition) and after about 5 minutes, the power supply went out with a flash and a bang but the motherboard light was still on and green. My first impression was that it was the psu's fault as it was a crappy generic 500w psu. We took it to the nearest PC clinic and they thought the same so they installed a new decent 500w power supply (not sure what model). It was fine for about a month then i went out, came back and it was dead again (motherboard light was still on green). We went back to PC clinic and they replaced the PSU with a 600w PSU (again not sure what model) free of charge and it died again within a few minutes (sure enough, the mobo light was still green). When we took it back for the third time, they told us it has got to be the motherboard. The weird thing is that the integrated graphics on the motherboard works fine, its only when the graphics card is installed that the psu blows. We have bought and installed a new power supply (a cougar cmx 1000w) but we have yet to purchase a new motherboard because we are not sure that it is the motherboard that is blowing the PSU. So what want to know is, what is causing the power supply to blow and what should I do to fix it.
