So, first off, I want to say I've been looking for an answer to this problem for the last few days, and I can't find anything to even start at. I've posted on Nvidia's forums 2 times now, trying to find help.
As the title says, I have a GTX 650 (not TI). I got it with a new computer in May of 2013. Since that day, every time I try to install drivers for it using either the program the card came with, or off their website, I get a "You need to reboot and try again" error. So I have never been able to install drivers for it.
What happens is if I go through the program, the first step is checking my computer, it scans for a minute then the error pops up, and once I dismiss it, the program closes. I have gone to their site, manually downloaded the drivers, but once they have saved to my computer, they open through the program. Then I'm right back to the restart error.
Excuse my lack of knowledge about computers. I know basics, but am mostly blind in hardware components. So big words will just confuse me more
Anyway, I think not having updated drivers this whole time is a bad thing, and any help would be greatly, GREATLY, appreciated. It is so frustrating to be stuck in this never-ending loop.
P.S. Windows 8 64 bit
EDIT: This may be unrelated, but in case it has something to do with my issue, I wanted to add it. When I open the Nvidia control panel (NOT the same program that I'm talking about above), I get this error:
Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library
Runtime Error!
Program:
This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an unusual way.
Please contact the application's support team for more information.
