I've recently read that you can overclock your monitor's refresh rate beyond stock settings. I have a Samsung Syncmaster BX2440, and I was wondering how 'safe' it is. Will it reduce the monitor's lifespan by a significant margin to clock it to 75hz from 60hz?

Money is kinda tight right now, hence why I wouldn't just buy a superior monitor, but for the same reason I wouldn't want to fry my Samsung.

If anyone has any insight it would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

what you read is true :)  (but, it may only be true for NVIDIA GPU owners) i have my S27A550H @ 72Hz but, it's worth noting that most monitors with standard 60Hz specifications will have a very hard time overclocking to even 66Hz.
