Should I choose the 7970 or GTX 680

I am building my first gaming system at the moment and the only thing I need now is a graphics card. I am debating between the Matrix 7970 Platinum 3GB which I can buy for £270 or the GTX 680 MSI Twin Frozr OC 2GB which I can get for £260.

I plan on using the system mainly for games like battlefield 4 and total war rome 2 and was wondering if anyone could help me as I am still quite new to it all.

Thanks in advance for any help given.

The new generation of ATI cards (successor to the HD7970) are being announced on the 25th September and will be available in mid-October. I would wait until mid-to-late October and reassess the graphics card marketplace - current prices will probably have dropped, and the new range of cards will be faster than what's currently available.

Okay but I have about £270 at the most for a graphics card so do you think one of the newly released cards in October will be as low as that?

Okay thank you for the help, it's not too bad waiting either as I am on holiday in Turkey from the 28th till the 12th October :)
