PC crash when loading OS, CPU problem?

Hello,

So I bought this AMD FX-8120 system about 3 months ago. (http://www.newegg.ca/Product/Product.aspx?Item=83-229-4...)

It worked fine for a month, then was shut down for about 2 month, we started using it again for 1 day and the PC started to run into more and more bluescreens. After each one, they were coming even faster. Now the PC can't even load the OS, it crashes when loading it.

Windows 8 reported WHEA_UNCORRECTABLE_ERROR. I then unplugged the SSD and booted on a USB thumbdrive to see if it was the filesystem that was corrupt. Same thing happened, although ubuntu was a bit more descriptive on the issue:

Like I said, the PC boots fine, no beeps from the motherboard. Tested the ram in memtest+, no errors. As soon as the OS launch it crashes. From what I've been reading, apparently CPU faults are rare and it's often the motherboard. But again there are no other symptoms coming from the board...

So I'm a bit clueless. Is there a tool like memtest+ that I can boot onto and run to test the CPU for corruption? Is there a way that I can clear that the problem isn't the motherboard socket?

Thanks in advance

try to boot up with a different cpu, that should tell you if it is the CPU or the socket. any AM3 or AM3+ CPU will work. do you have access to the BIOS?

and (this might be a stupid question) have you checked if your CPU cooler is properly attached, the CPU might have been deep fried if the cooler is not properly attached.
