Started a computer build last night from microcenter and after everything was put together I didn't get any power. Thinking it was a problem with the motherboard I exchanged it's with another one this morning and now everything runs for about 3 seconds and shuts off (power and reset button on motherboard remains lit). I noticed a few numbers and letters of the Dr debug LED but can't make out anything in the troubleshooting guide. I even try disconnecting all of the cables to the motherboard just leaving the main 24 pin cable and the eight pin CPU cable and the same thing happens. maybe there is a problem with the processor from the initial install with the first motherboard board?

I should also state that I am using my Seagate Barracuda hard drive, video card and RAM from my previous computer and plan on cloning my new hard drive (sshd) as boot but even with everything disconnected I dont see that is the problem.

Build:
ASRock 970 Extreme 4
AMD FX-8350
Crucial Ballistic Sport RAM 2x8GB
EVGA Geforce GTX 660 SC
Seagate SSHD 1TB
Seagate Barracuda HDD 3TB
Antec 620 Liquid Cooler
Corsair CX750M PSU

But mother board still gets power fans and psu run only for about 3 sec and mother board power and reset buttons remain let. Ahhh guess ill return the motherboard again in the morning. Would a bad cpu cause this problem as well?

Ok now onto more problems. No signal coming out of my video card but I do see the video card fan working. I guess I will have to put the video card back in my previous computer and see if it works. I also cannot turn the computer off with the power button I can only turn it off from the power supply switch.

I put my previous computer back together and video card works fine. So I'm guessing bad motherboard for the fact that I can't turn it off with the power button only by psu
