I'm planning to buy a RIG with 3 GTX-780s with 4770k.
I wanted to know that is it good time to buy single 4k monitor for gaming....Or.....i should go for traditional 1080p 3 display setup....
Last Ques- will the performance of 3 GTX 780s(combined) will go through 1 single HDMI cable which i will plug in 4K monitor...or....it will give me the performance of only 1 GPU...????

Solution

Is that a monitor or TV? The TV's which use only a single HDMI connection are limited to 30hz at 4k resolutions. There is at least 1 monitor out there that offers 60hz at 4k resolution, but that requires either a displayport, dual link DVI or two HDMI connections. The screen is actually two displays stitched together, and the two HDMI connections each power...

It would go through a single HDMI cable, however gaming at 4k would be very hard because of the amount of data being pushed through a single cord. I'm not a genius with this kind of stuff, but from what I've heard, you'd be lucky to get 60 fps on a single cable. I know there's newer cables that have higher bandwidth I just haven't seen any yet..

Edit: If you were to use 2 HDMI cables there shouldn't be a problem.

A 3-way SLI solution should power it pretty well. You still may not play everything at max, but it won't be bad.

Take a look at this review, done prior to the 780 release, but 3-way 780 SLI would be similar to the 3-way Titan SLI setup shown.
