Would I be looking at something like the Titan with 6GB with the high VRAM or go something else like 780SLI with more fps?

The monitor I will be using is BenQ XL2420TE 144HZ

Solution
at 1080p 2gb is fine if you want to get 4gb i see nothing wrong with that either though.

Thanks.
My only concern is in 3D, the framerate will get halved (to have 2 pictures, one for each eye).
The Titan is made for high-res displays, and theoretically, a 1080p 3D monitor is 1080x2 (once again, one for each eye) and was wondering if that would be a sensible choice. My goal is to get at least 120fps on any settings.

The games I play are BF3 (and soon BF4), Crysis 3, CS:GO, Skyrim etc.

Well i am not sure what it take to get 120fps in Crysis 3 but you'll get that in the others you mentioned with two gtx 770's.You might want to step it up to SLI 780's if getting 120fps is a must for you.

i think its better to go with amd. ares 2 or crossfire 2 powerful amd cards because crysis 3 and bf4 are both optimized for amd. so logically amd would perform better with it. i just dont know by how much. but in arkham city which is optimized for nvidia. nvidia get 20%-30% increase fps than their amd counterparts.

OP specifically wants 3D, which means no AMD.

Also OP you cant get 120FPS in 3D, the 120Hz from the monitor turns into 60 frames from two perspectives, making 120 images composed of a maximum of 60 frames.

Also, in 2D, 120 FPS in Crysis 3 will not happen, as the CPU will not allow for much more than 60 FPS. The good news is in 3D, the AI and possibly some of the physics does not have to be done twice, only the rendering of frames is down twice, with some exceptions (Tomb Raider got hit with double physics calculations I believe).

I play 3D Vision with 680 SLI and find I can play every game I've tried at high or ultra type settings, but I have not played Crysis 3 yet. I do play Metro 2033 at high settings (not very high), The Witcher 2 puts me at mostly high settings, but disabling DoF settings (not needed for 3D anyway). Farcry 3 requires me to play in Dx9 at a notch below max for good results and the mod from this site: http://helixmod.blogspot.com/2013/07/game-list-full.html (definitely save this site, it fixes a lot of games for 3D).

Lol!I was just getting ready to message you to come over here but i guess i don't need to now i do not play 3D so i figured you could help.

How about if I OC the CPU, I'll be getting a 3770k which will be OC'd to around 4.5GhZ.

Some games are just CPU bound to a point that 120 FPS is just not possible. Many new cutting edge games fit in the category. It may get there on occasion, but not all the time.

Competitive gamer :)
And I do know 60fps is acceptable. That is my minimum for any game on this rig, but for playing games in 3D, I'll need around 120fps.

This may contradict everything you just said, but if I was playing in 3D, would the CPU ignore those bounds and try to get to 60fps?

In 2D, some new games just are not capable of 120 FPS. They just ask the CPU to do too much.

In 3D, FPS are often cut in half due to the extra GPU load of making two images per frame. However, the CPU usually does not have to do double work on a lot of things it does, such as AI. In some games, unfortunately, some physics has to be performed for each image, so you may still be CPU bottlenecked (I've only had this happen with Tomb Raider and my CPU isn't as fast as yours).

For the most part, in 3D, 60 FPS is pretty easy to achieve if you have the graphics muscle.
