I am trying to extend the life of an older system a little longer on an exceptable speed, by placing two extra 1GB RAM sticks.

My current system has:
RAM: 2 x 1GB Kingston ValueRAM 1GB 240-Pin DDR2 667MHZ
MOBO: Asus M2A-VM HDMI AM2
gpu: NVIDIA GeForce 8600 GT

I am adding:
2 x 1 GB Crucial CT2KIT12872AA667 PC2-5300 (DDR2-667)

In the first place I tried putting the extra RAM sticks in and my system recognized the RAM. But my gpu stops functioning : "Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)". Also, my sounds output is not functioning. I am getting sounds, but it is a whole lot of distorted noise.

After this I put the sticks in a different order, and tried the slots one by one to check whether something was wrong with any of my memory slots.

The conclusion is that my gpu only produces errors when I use all 4 memory slots. My system recognizes the 4GB RAM, but has a strange effect on my other hardware. Anyone has any suggestions of what could go wrong here?
