jbod or raid 0

i want 2 2tb drives to show up as 1 4tb drive and for it to act like a 4tb drive without speed loss. i dont really care about data striping or whatever. just for windows to recognize 2 2tb drives as 1 4tb so i can have more space. it can help if a drive fails not all of them fail

  1. Just make sure the drives are in NTFS and are dynamic and span the volumes. RAID 0 has no redundancy, so unless you want a performance boost, it probably wouldn't be the best for what you are doing.

There’s no redundancy for spanning either.

This link makes it pretty easy to figure out: http://howto.cnet.com/8301-11310_39-57378002-285/how-to-turn-old-hard-drives-into-one-large-drive-in-windows/

Again, there’s no redundancy, so if one of your drives dies then you lose all of your data; so have a backup plan.
  4. If you want a large drive with redundancy, you probably want RAID 5, assuming you can support it. You would have to have another disk.
  5. i only use them for fraps vids. i dont need any redundancy really. everything important is on my SSD. thanks for all the help guys
